Practice owner Dr. Amanda Godwin is a 2004 graduate of Philip Barbour High School. She graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science and graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. Upon graduation, she joined the staff at Appalachian Animal Hospital in June 2012. She enjoys working with behavior problems of dogs and cats.

Dr. Godwin lives in Elkins, where she shares her home with her husband, Kelly Godwin, and their canine family — a Dutch Malinois, a German Shepherd, five Parson Russell Terriers and a Golden Retriever. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, reading and training and competing with her dogs in Schutzhund.
