Dr. Tonya White
Practice owner and Randolph County native, Dr. Tonya White, is a 1996 graduate of Elkins High School. She graduated from WVU with a degree in Pre-Veterinary Science in 2000 and received her Doctorate from The Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. After serving internships at three different veterinary practices in Ohio, she returned to Elkins with her husband, Jeff. They opened The Animal Care Center in July of 2004. Their practice experienced rapid growth and they formed the Appalachian Animal Hospital and built a new 6,000 square foot facility, which opened in September of 2014.
Dr. White’s compassion for animals developed after getting her first pony at the age of 8. As a youth, she showed Quarter Horses and jumpers all over the East Coast, receiving countless awards and scholarships. Living on a farm, she was surrounded with numerous dogs and cats and was solely responsible for their care. She knew by the age of 10 that she wanted to spend the rest of her life caring for animals.
The White’s are the proud parents of five children; Ashton, Alyssa, Ava, Aspen, and Asher. They share their home with a Boxer named Daisy. In her spare time, Dr. White enjoys gardening with her family, reading, baking and participating in sports with her children.
